1
In a pan, mix 200 grams of grated coconut and 100 grams of jaggery. Cook on a low flame until the jaggery melts and the mixture thickens.
2
Add 1/2 teaspoon of cardamom powder to the coconut-jaggery mixture and mix well. Set aside to cool.
3
In a separate bowl, take 1 cup of rice flour. Gradually add warm water and a pinch of salt, kneading into a smooth dough.
4
Make small balls from the dough and flatten them to form a small bowl shape.
5
Place a spoonful of the coconut-jaggery filling in the center of each flattened dough.
6
Gather the edges and pinch them together to form a peak, resembling a modak.
7
Prepare a steamer by boiling water. Place the modaks on a greased steamer plate.
8
Steam the modaks for 10-15 minutes on medium flame.
