Grate 250 grams of mawa (khoya) and keep it aside.

In a non-stick pan, heat 1 tablespoon of ghee on a low flame.

Add the grated mawa to the pan and cook on a low flame, stirring continuously to prevent it from sticking to the bottom.

Cook the mawa until it starts to leave the sides of the pan, which should take about 10-15 minutes.

Add 100 grams of powdered sugar and 1/2 teaspoon of cardamom powder to the cooked mawa. Mix well and cook for another 5 minutes.

Grease a thali (plate) with a little ghee and pour the mawa mixture onto it. Spread it evenly with a spatula.

Allow the mixture to cool for a few minutes. When it is still warm, cut it into desired shapes with a sharp knife.

Let the mawa barfi set for at least 1 hour before serving.
