Kozhukattai is a traditional South Indian dish, often prepared during festivals. These are steamed dumplings made from rice flour, filled with a sweet or savoury filling.

Soak 1 cup of rice in water for 2 hours. Drain the water and grind the rice to a fine paste.

In a pan, add the rice paste and 2 cups of water. Stir continuously on medium heat until it forms a dough-like consistency.

Allow the dough to cool. Once cooled, knead it well and make small balls.

For the filling, heat 1 tablespoon of ghee in a pan. Add 1 cup of grated coconut and 1 cup of jaggery. Cook until the jaggery melts and mixes well with the coconut.

Flatten each dough ball and place a spoonful of the filling in the centre. Fold the edges to seal the filling and shape it into a dumpling.

Steam these dumplings in a steamer for about 10-15 minutes.
